This year, Joigny students have plunged into the vibrant world of art with the exciting theme "Commotion in the Ocean." From swirling sea creatures to textured treasures of the deep, our young artists have explored a rich tapestry of cultures, materials, and techniques to bring their underwater inspirations to life.
Throughout the year, students have developed and refined essential artistic skills—from conceptual planning and creative design to hands-on construction and detailed execution. Their journey through contemporary and historical art included studying artists like Ken Done, Gabrielle Young, Anya Brock, Bayley Mifsud (Merindah-Gunya), BrownwynBancroft and drawing from Indigenous iconography, while experimenting with an impressive variety of materials.
The result - A stunning display of:
• Papier-mâché penguin and squid creatures sculpted from upcycled bottles
• Clay sculptures and intricate 3D models
• Mixed media collages featuring Australian wildlife, like turtles
• Year 3 & 4 giant clams painted on mineral paper
• Textile sea life and Japanese Carp Kites dancing in colour
• Paintings of marine animals, coral, drawings, and shell studies
• And imaginative works like Yellow Submarine-themed creations
Every piece showcases not only technical skill but also the individuality and cultural curiosity of our students.
Join us on September 16th to celebrate the creativity, craftsmanship, and oceanic wonder our students have explored all year. You won’t want to miss this splash of imagination!
